Two Dartmouth Police officers were placed on paid administrative leave following a police involved shooting on Bush St. Sunday afternoon.

Police Chief Robert Szala issued a statement on the department's Facebook page saying that the two officers involved were placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted in conjuction with Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Department Kyle Costa says the period of paid administrative leave is standard procedure following an officer involved shooting.

Szala also says the two officers weren't injured.

The officers shot 23-year-old Ryan Kuphal after he allegedly charged at them with a knife and a stun gun proved ineffective.

Kuphal was reportedly involved with a domestic incident involving his mother.

He was taken to a hospital, where Kuphal was last reported to be in serious but stable condition.
