
Plane Crashes on I-195 in Dartmouth, Highway Shut Down
UPDATE: Two people were killed in the crash, and a third person who was on the ground was also injured. The two killed were later identified as Thomas Perkins, 68, and his wife Agatha, 66.
DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — A plane crashed into the median of Interstate 195 in Dartmouth this morning, and the westbound side of the highway is expected to remain closed for several hours.
What We Know About the Crash
According to Massachusetts State Police, a fixed-wing airplane crashed on the median of I-195 at about 8:15 a.m. Video footage from the scene shows the plane engulfed in heavy flames.
No information has been provided about the plane, the number of people on board or their condition. WBSM has blurred the tail number in the photo until identifying information is released by the appropriate authorities.

Where the Crash Happened on I-195
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation reported the crash occurred in the area of Exit 19 in Dartmouth, the Reed Road area.
Traffic Detours and Road Closures
The westbound side of I-195 is closed and will be for several hours. The left lane of I-195 eastbound is also closed.
Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the area if possible.
