Dartmouth Pickleball Facility Celebrates Grand Opening
With the popularity of pickleball on the rise, a facility in Dartmouth is celebrating their grand opening. Nearly 48 million Americans, many of them older Americans, are now playing America's fastest growing sport. Pickleball and More took over the Big Value Outlet Plaza in South Dartmouth last summer, and they've spent the past year not only perfecting their business, but giving the overall plaza a facelift..
While they had a soft opening last fall, the crew at Pickleball and More has spent time on the "and More" part of the project. In addition to the pickleball, they also feature three badminton nets, six cornhole sets, 3 dart boards, three ping-pong tables, kickball, dodgeball, and Spec Tennis.
The courts at Pickleball and More play like an outdoor court, but they are fabricated with paint and recycled, crushed rubber tires. It makes for an ideal playing surface that causes less impact to knees, legs and feet. The wiffle ball like ball slows the game down to a manageable speed for many people.
This weekend, Pickleball and More will be hosting a Grand Celebration event. Manager Suzette Aubuchan explained why the business held off until this fall to hold the grand opening. "It was really just to get our feet wet," she said. "We did a soft opening over Veteran's Day last November. That event was to introduce us into the community, but we wanted to show off the other games we have beyond pickleball."
Pickleball and More is located at 718 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. The ribbon cutting will take place Friday afternoon, September 20, 2024 at 2pm.
