Dartmouth Man Charged with Filming Nude Child Found Dead

The Dartmouth man arrested last month who police accused of videotaping a nude child has been found dead.

According to WBSM-AM, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office says 42-year-old Carlos Fortes of Slades Farm Lane was found dead in the basement of a New Bedford home by a family member last night. The DA’s office believes the death was an apparent suicide.

Fortes was arrested Dec. 29 after police received a report of a man on Slades Farm Lane videotaping a child while they were nude in the shower.

Fortes was arraigned Dec. 30 in New Bedford District Court and was charged with secretly videotaping a person while they were nude, lascivious posing of a nude child, and improper storage of a firearm. Fortes was out on bail at the time of his death.
