Pass the napkins and a glass of milk, because something tasty is on the horizon.

A new treat is coming to the Dartmouth Mall, and it's bound to satisfy the SouthCoast's sweet tooth. Cinnabon and Carvel are set to open a kiosk near the center court, close to JCPenney and Snipes, with an anticipated launch by late April.

Dartmouth Mall General Manager Michael Alfonso confirmed that while the goal was to open in time for Easter, construction is just getting underway, making a late April opening more realistic.

“We’re definitely pushing for an Easter opening, but it may not happen,” Alfonso said. “Construction for the tenant will be starting over the next couple of days, and then we’ll gradually be getting the kiosk into the space.”

The addition of Cinnabon, famous for its warm, gooey cinnamon rolls, and Carvel, known for its soft-serve ice cream and ice cream cakes, adds another specialty snack option for shoppers.

“It’s not a sit-down restaurant, but it’s a great snack that I think people will enjoy,” Alfonso said.

The new kiosk will neighbor Auntie Anne’s pretzels, another popular mall staple, but Alfonso isn’t worried about competition.

“I think it’s good business for them. As a corporation, there’s an affiliation there, so I don’t think it’ll be detrimental at all,” he said.

The Dartmouth Mall location will be one of the few spots in the area to feature both Cinnabon and Carvel under one roof, with the closest Cinnabon locations currently in Brockton at the Westgate Mall and at Providence Place.

For local shoppers craving a warm cinnamon roll or a creamy cone, the wait won’t be long. Cinnabon and Carvel will soon be ready to serve up something sweet at Dartmouth Mall.
