Fall River Juvenile Charged in Dartmouth OUI Crash With Stolen Vehicle
DARTMOUTH (WBSM) — A juvenile is facing charges following a hit-and-run crash in which the juvenile was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle while on drugs in Dartmouth on Friday.
Dartmouth Police said Officer Clifford Merchant responded to Matty Lane for a call associated with a hit-and-run crash on State Road on October 20.
The person who reported the crash said their 2016 Toyota Avalon had been struck from behind by a 2011 Hyundai Elantra on State Road, and that they were able to follow the vehicle to Matty Lane, where it struck a tree.
Officer Merchant learned the driver was a juvenile female from Fall River, and that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Fall River on October 7.
The juvenile sustained a minor injury to her face in the crash and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for treatment. A clerk magistrate was informed of her arrest and she was released to her mother.
The juvenile is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating under the influence of drugs, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
