Dartmouth Family Builds Massive 13-Foot Snowman With Actual Smoking Pipe [VIDEO]
If you were driving along Russells Mills Road in Dartmouth recently and did a double take, don’t worry – you weren’t seeing things. Standing tall in a front yard is a 13-foot snowman that’s quickly becoming a neighborhood legend.
This towering Frosty look-alike isn’t just big, he’s functional. Yes, that corn cob pipe in his mouth actually smokes.
The snowman belongs to the Gaudencio Family, who said the icy giant was built Sunday morning right after the snowstorm by husband and dad Walter and four-year-old son Sebastian. What started as a simple family snowman turned into a full-blown winter masterpiece.
A Snow Day Project That Got a Little Out of Hand
Walter's wife Kerry said the snow was absolutely perfect: light, sticky, and ideal for snowman-making. Once Walter and Sebastian got rolling (literally), the idea quickly shifted from “let’s build a snowman” to “let’s see how far we can take this.”
The bottom ball came together easily, but the middle section required some extra muscle. A neighbor across the street was recruited to help lift it into place, and from there, Walter handled the rest, including climbing a ladder to finish the head.

With a trash-barrel hat, a door-mat scarf, classic stick arms, and buttons added in, the snowman officially hit his 13-foot height from hat to ground.
Yes, That Pipe Really Smokes
The detail that’s getting the most attention: that working corn cob pipe.
Walter constructed the pipe using actual piping and connected it to a fog machine, which sends smoke through the snowman’s head and out through the pipe without melting him.
According to Kerry, it’s been nonstop reactions ever since.

Slowing Cars, Selfies, and a Little Local Fame
Cars have been slowing down. People have been pulling into the driveway. Some have even hopped out to snap photos and take selfies with the snowman.
“I didn’t realize it was going to be this much of a hit,” she said. “I'm glad it got the recognition it deserves. They worked so hard on it.”
From start to finish, the entire project took about three hours, and while the snowman has started to lean a little (as all legendary snowmen eventually do), he’s still standing proud – and still smoking that homemade corncob pipe.
So if you’re out and about in Dartmouth and happen to spot a towering snowman puffing away like he’s straight out of a storybook, now you know the story behind it: a little creativity, a lot of snow, and a family that turned a winter morning into something unforgettable.
