Dartmouth Chick-fil-A’s Grand Opening Welcomed Fairhaven’s Kevin the Cow

When Dartmouth’s brand-new Chick-fil-A opened its doors on Friday, customers were expecting crispy chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and plenty of cow-themed costumes.

What they weren’t expecting, however, was the arrival of a real, live cow named Kevin.

Kevin, a local celebrity from Blazing Saddles Pony Parties and Petting Zoos in Fairhaven, made a surprise appearance at the Faunce Corner Road location, turning heads and stealing hearts.

A Cow at Chick-fil-A? Why Not!

The restaurant’s promotion encouraged guests to “dress like a cow” for free entrées. Kevin’s owner Keri Wilson saw the ad and thought, why not bring the real thing?

“We made it to Chick-fil-A’s grand opening in Dartmouth,” Wilson shared in a Facebook post. “Kevin was very impressed with the turnout and loved the waffle fries.”

While the original plan was to roll Kevin through the drive-thru, the opening-day crowds were too large, so he stuck to mingling outside. Guests were thrilled, petting Kevin and snapping photos as Chick-fil-A’s PR team warmly welcomed the unexpected guest.

Kevin’s SouthCoast Adventures

This wasn’t Kevin’s first foodie outing. In the past, he’s stopped at Dunkin’ for a drive-thru donut and even taken strolls along the beach.

“It’s his favorite thing to do. He loves being around people,” Wilson said.

At Chick-fil-A, Kevin happily munched on waffle fries while his owners enjoyed their meals. Chick-fil-A’s staff went above and beyond, gifting Wilson’s grandson a stuffed animal cow, a souvenir cup, and a few free meal cards for milkshakes and sandwiches.

Hoping for a Sponsorship

Kevin and his friends stayed for about an hour before heading home, but he’s already hoping for more. Wilson joked that Kevin would love to land a yearlong sponsorship with Chick-fil-A. Considering how much he enjoyed those waffle fries, it doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

For now, Kevin’s latest adventure is simply another chapter in the life of a local cow who knows how to steal the spotlight, and maybe a fry or two.
