Cruise Passengers Expecting Beaches Land in Boston Instead
Each fall New England is flooded with tourists looking to enjoy some of America's history as the seasons change and colors burst.
Boston and Salem in particular see an influx of travelers this time of year for Halloween fun, historical tours and fall foliage.
Yet this week New England welcomed what were probably some of their most disappointed tourists ever.
Along with beautiful leaf peeping, the fall season is also a very busy time of year for hurricanes. In fact two of them were heating up in the Caribbean this week, disrupting travel plans to the area.
Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda Disrupt Caribbean Travel
Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda caused the Norwegian Escape to change course at the last minute, taking travelers who thought they were headed for the Caribbean up to Boston, Portland and Eastport, Maine instead.
Yikes!
Norwegian Escape Rerouted to Boston and Maine
Perhaps the worst part of this change was that most passengers aboard the Escape had no idea it was going to happen until they stepped aboard the cruise ship in New York City and were handed a piece of paper explaining the situation.

Of course keeping everyone safe and out of the path of a hurricane is extremely important, but packing for a Caribbean beach vacation and then landing in New England during a cold snap must have been infuriating.
In fact, many passengers told CBS News they had to shop for warmer clothes when they arrived in Beantown, because they didn't have the wardrobe to stay warm.
Will Travelers Be Compensated?
No word on if travelers will be compensated at all for the travel change or offered a chance to take the trip they really wanted at a future date.
