It's going to be a busy summer for the staff at the New Bedford Art Museum/Artworks.

According to Executive Director Ashley Occhino, the current "Uncommon Threads" exhibit inside the Art Museum is a big hit, celebrating the 30-year career of costume designer Ruth E. Carter. The exhibit continues through November 14.

Outside the museum, work will continue on the Creative Courts Project at Clasky Common Park in New Bedford. The surface of the park's basketball courts were painted in 2019 with a nautical design that had the neighborhood buzzing.

This year, artist Maria Molteni and others will return to create a mural on the walls surrounding the courts. They see the courts as a "beacon for community engagement."
