Hollywood just got the green light to return to Rhode Island for the taping of a new romantic drama feature film.

The Rhode Island State Properties Committee recently approved the use of the Cranston Street Armory for the Rhode Island Film and Television Office and the TCS Rhode Island Production 1, Inc., where they will get busy working on a new project later this year.

Steven Feinberg, the Executive Director of Rhode Island Film and Television, shared that the production company requested the use of the armory from December 1st to the end of May of 2024.

This isn’t the first time the Cranston Street Armory has been used in films. Most recently, the armory was featured in Hocus Pocus 2.

This new film, however, will be about love, not potions.

Titled Ella McKay, Feinberg described the film as a romantic drama, and the project is expected to bring in around 225 full-time jobs to Rhode Island.

He spoke to WPRI 12 and played coy when it came to revealing the cast members, but he did share that this film with bring in some “big names” to the Ocean State.

20th Century Studio will produce the film, and Feinberg shared there is a possibility that the production company will further renovate the armory when it begins filming.

It’s too early to know who will be the big stars and what the movie is all about, but it’s not too early to get excited about another big project coming to town.
