The Friends of the Captain Jack Peterson Dog Park are hosting a Community Open House at the dog park in New Bedford. Come out and see how much fun the dog park is for dogs and their owners alike.

Each year, the American Kennel Club (AKC) asks pet-related organizations to host Responsible Dog Ownership Days events to help educate the public in their communities about responsibilities of dog ownership and help current owners enhance their relationships with their dogs.

This event will be held at the Captain Jack Peterson Dog Park on Saturday, September 22 from 12 noon to 4 pm. It’s a day of demonstrations by Harmonious Hounds (dog park etiquette), Buzzard’s Bay Coalition (scooping the poop), music, shelter dogs, therapy dogs, raffles, and food.

Anyone interested in becoming a member can try out the park before they purchase a membership and gate FOB!

Visitors will be asked to sign a waiver of liability, show proof of current vaccinations, proof their dog has been spayed or neutered. And NO retractable leashes are allowed! Registration will take place before entering the park.

The entrance to enjoy the park will be free, but we will be accepting donations to help our local dog shelters in the area.
