According to USA Today, Chuck E Cheese is filing for bankruptcy protection.

The entertainment company reopened 266 restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the social distancing guidelines might make it hard for the facility to operate in the “new normal.” My family has hosted many birthday parties at Chuck E Cheese in Dartmouth over the years, and everyone knows that there is no such thing as social distancing in the children’s arcade and play space.

The company plans to continue reopening locations. “The Chapter 11 process will allow us to strengthen our financial structure as we recover from what has undoubtedly been the most challenging event in our company’s history,” said CEO David McKillips in a prepared statement.

Restaurants all over the world had to get creative during the pandemic to stay afloat, but Chuck E Cheese had a very interesting concept. In case you missed it back in May, the entertainment company launched “Pasqually’s Pizza and Wings” to promote their food sales through takeout food delivery apps.

“Pasqually was one of the animatronic characters you'd see on the stage when the band came out to play during Little Johnny’s birthday party. It is named after the make-believe chef/drummer in Chuck E’s gang.”
