Sweet little 'Charlie' the dog could most certainly use a good home.

This 8-9-year-old New Bedford beagle-mix has been a resident at the Lighthouse Animal Shelter for more than a year, the longest out of any other animal in their care.

Staff over at the Lighthouse Animal Shelter and Rescue have been taking care of Charlie for over a year now in hopes that he'll find his "Forever Family" soon.

"It’s been over a year of watching his friends come and go! He loves to cuddle and sit in your lap for ear scratches."-L.A.S. (Lighthouse Animal Shelter)

Although Charlie still needs certain attention and training, he's a working progress that just wants to live his life in a normal home.

"Charlie will need house training and someone that has the time to work with him," according to the shelter.

Going for long walks in and around the woods is Charlie's favorite thing to do and he has a very keen scent of smell.

Lastly, Charlie doesn’t like to share food with other dogs and will need to be trained the normal household manners.

Otherwise, this is just a loveable dog who needs belly rubs and ear scratches while lounging on the couch.... a couch that he'll be able to rest comfortably on for the rest of his life knowing that someone took a chance on him.

For more information on Charlie, contact the Lighthouse Animal Shelter at (508) 999-7387 to schedule a visit to 596 Hathaway Road in New Bedford or simply message them here on Facebook.

The New Bedford rescue shelter is open every day (by appointment) and every Saturday is Adoption Day from Noon to 5 p.m.
