BARNSTABLE (WBSM) — A former Centerville man has been charged with first degree murder in the unsolved death of a six-week-old baby.

Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois that Randy Patterson-Gerber, 25, has been indicted by a Barnstable Superior Court grand jury for his role relating to the death of the child.

The charges date back to September 7, 2021, when Barnstable Police received a 911 call at about 10:25 a.m. for an unresponsive infant. Officers arrived to find the infant “unresponsive, discolored and cool to the touch,” according to the D.A.

First responders attempted CPR while en route to Cape Cod Hospital. The infant was later transferred via medflight to a Boston hospital, where the infant passed away.
