CARVER (WBSM) — A man was killed in a fatal fire Wednesday night in Carver, and another man was taken to the hospital.

According to Carver Fire Chief Craig Weston, first responders received a report of a fire at 222 Tremont Street at 10:59 p.m. on March 20. Firefighters arrived at the two-story home within three minutes and found heavy fire.

Weston said a person was trapped, and firefighters and Carver Police entered the home and quickly found a man on the first floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Weston said. His identity has not been released.

A second victim escaped the house and was transported to a local hospital. Weston said his injuries and condition were unknown.

Weston said no firefighters were hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Carver Fire Department, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
