Buzzard Bay Brewery: Westport’s Hidden Heavenly Getaway

The town of Westport may be small and quaint, but it's chock-full of history and gorgeous hideaways; Buzzards Bay Brewing is the perfect example of this!

It was a beautiful and sunny Friday afternoon as I was sitting on a dock in Westport overlooking the Watuppa Pond. Some friends were talking about heading to Buzzard's Bay Brewery in Westport, MA to hang out, grab some dinner and of course a few brews. I of course have never been (shocking, I know). Imagine a place where you can bring your own food (outdoors only) and pair it with an ice cold beer from Buzzard's Bay Brewing... Only in Westport!

I have heard nothing but good things from this place and was anxious to see what all the excitement was about. First off, if you're not from Westport or unfamiliar with location, then Buzzards Bay Brewing may be a little off the grid for you. Located at 98 Horseneck Rd, they are simply 20 seconds up the street from the Horseneck/Hixbridge intersection and set back just a ways on the left hand side.

Anyone who has visited the brewery on a sunny summer's evening will tell you that it's one of Westport's hidden gems. Buzzard's giant property is made up of a grassy meadow that invites bare feet and picnic blankets. The entertainment and atmosphere is relaxing and very calm. Sounds of local folk bands and laughter fill the air and although the lines to get a beer are sometimes long, the staff work hard and quickly to satisfy every Buzzard's Bay Brew enthusiasts.

Let me take a second and tell you about the variety of beers on tap at Buzzard's Bay Brewery. First, you can head into their barn and order a tasty brew from their tap room or you can enjoy the warm summer sun outside at their Brewer's Garden mobile tap (highly recommended). A few of my favorites were "Moby D", "Buzzards Bay IPA" and of course the light, crisp and heavenly "Golden Flounder"... Perfect for all occasions!

With great beer comes great hunger and luckily, there was a food hero at the Brewery... The famous Fancheezical Mobile Grilled Cheese and more truck! You heard me right, hot and gooey grilled cheese sandwiches made to order, stuffed with finger licking BBQ pulled pork or hamburg or even just an old fashioned buttery grilled cheese. Yum! Grab a side of loaded nachos with the sandwich and you'll reach a level of food euphoria like you've never experienced before. You can get a taste of Fancheezical on Tues – Thursday form 4:30 PM to 7:15 PM and again on  Fri & Sat from 1:30pm to 7:15pm.

Between the tasty brews on tap, the random food trucks, the perfect entertainment for Buzzard Bay Brewery's atmosphere and amazing summer vibes... this is officially my newest relaxation destination in Westport!

Open all year round from Tuesday-Saturday from 1 PM - 8 PM and on sunny days, you'll find multiple corn hole boards set up in the grassy fields just down the hill from the brewery.
