It seems the SouthCoast is home to some of the best botanical gardens in New England.

With the number of historic homes and retreats of the elite in the area, it is no wonder there are so many beautiful gardens that have sprung up along the coastline. Many closest to the SouthCoast are actually old estates that have become museums.

Blithewold Mansion in Bristol might be the most well-known in the area, but did you know there are two smaller, yet equally stunning estate gardens right in New Bedford? The men that helped create them also had a hand in founding the New Bedford Horticultural Society. So you know their garden spaces were no run-of-the-mill roses.

Our corner of the country also happens to house the largest glasshouse display garden in all of New England, the most northern topiary garden in the United States and a public garden, which blooms near the site where the Mayflower Pilgrims disembarked.
