Few travel experiences are less pleasant to contemplate than passing through Boston Logan International Airport on my way anywhere, especially with an early-morning departure time. The Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince comes to mind, but that's a story for another day.

When we travel, which isn't often enough, my wife and I opt to fly out of Rhode Island's T.F. Green International Airport.

Green Airport is closer to home in Warwick, Rhode Island and therefore more convenient. Parking is considerably less expensive than at a Logan terminal parking garage, and even with the Washington Bridge construction, it is easier to access.

Traveling to Boston for an early-morning flight sucks.

Driving to Logan Airport is challenging since the highways are already clogged with Boston-bound traffic by 5 a.m. Staying overnight at one of those "convenient" airport hotels with terminal shuttle service is an option, but it can cost hundreds of dollars that I'd prefer to spend poolside on umbrella drinks.

Then there is baggage check and security.

The Massachusetts Port Authority is reportedly considering a plan to make life easier. Boston Business Journal reported the agency is "working on plans to turn some its Park & Fly Logan Express locations into remote terminals where passengers could go through security offsite before arriving at the airport."

"The remote terminal concept would position Massport's offsite parking locations, which includes sites in Danvers, Framingham, Braintree, Woburn, and Back Bay, as pre-airport screening and baggage areas," according to the BBJ.

Once through the baggage and screening process at a remote location, passengers would then board Massport shuttles for the airport terminal.

Parking fees at the Park & Fly locations are less than terminal parking at the airport.
