Looking for something to do? Looking to donate to a good cause? Well we may have found something for you!

Miss New Bedford 2014, Jillian Zucco, is hosting a Blood Drive on World Blood Donor Day, Saturday June 14th!

According to The Wanderer, a Southcoast Blood Donor Van will be set up at the Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford from 12:30-6:30 ready to take in as many donors as possible.

In order to donate blood, you must bring a photo ID with you and you're encouraged to eat before you donate.  And if you donate, you'll get a free pair of New Bedford Bay Sox tickets!

Catherine Alegria, Donor Program Coordinator for Southcoast Health says that every pint of blood donated will go to a local hospital such as St. Luke's, Charlton, or Tobey or at one of the local cancer centers in Fairhaven and Fall River.

They suggest you make an appointment, but drop-ins are welcomed too! If you'd like to make an appointment, you can call 800-497-1727

Jillian, a 21-year-old from Mattapoisett is an honors nursing student at UMASS Dartmouth and is pairing up with Southcoast Health and the New Bedford Bay Sox for the blood drive.

She is also a licensed EMT and her platform for the Miss America Organization is "Choose a Cause, Make a Difference" which encourages volunteerism!

So come on down and donate to this great cause that can help so many people!
