New Gas Station Underway at Warwick’s BJ’s Market

There's exciting news for shoppers at the BJs Market in Warwick, RI.

BJ's Wholesale Club members have been shopping at this "store of the future" for the past three years, enjoying test products before they head to other BJs locations.

Yet with the smaller market-style store, there are things that are missing. Product selection is smaller, there isn't a tire center on site and there hasn't been a gas station on site. Until now.

Yes, work is finally underway on the gas station addition to the BJs Market on East Ave in Warwick.

Signs of Gas Station Construction at BJs Market

It was nearly 18 months ago that surveyors were first on hand at BJs, measuring the parking lot for the gas station locale. At the time trucks had blocked off the backend of the lot, marking the future gas station with small orange cones.

Now much more of the BJs parking lot is blocked off.

As construction on the gas pumps begins and presumably huge gas tanks get buried underground, nearly two-thirds of BJ's current parking lot is completely cordoned off with fencing.

Construction trucks are on site and though no digging has begun just yet, the project is definitely being prepped.

Parking Challenges During Construction

For now that means much tougher parking for BJs Market customers. There are fewer spaces and drivers must use each aisle one at a time to find the perfect place to park.

There are plenty of spaces available along the East Ave side of the building, as well as additional parking at the back of the store, both locations are likely to be less stressful for shoppers during gas station construction.

No word from the store on how long this project will take, but hopefully BJs members (and non-members) are filling up before next summer gets underway.
