It was good to see Thanksgiving morning that the balloons made it to the 87th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and it's not the first time the wind has played a part in this parade's decision whether or not to have balloons.

The year was 1997 and it was windy. Tons of kids and parents lined the streets of New York to see their favorite balloon characters like Snoopy, and Barney the Dinosaur was huge on TV at the time too. He showed up life size as a balloon and the wind had its way with it, and showed no mercy.

As you can see in the video, a lamp post just caught Barney in the stomach, tearing a hole in the balloon, as kids and parents shielded their eyes.

Thank goodness it was just a balloon kids. Barney is alive and well, living in up in retirement off of TV.
