NEW BEDFORD — Another Santander bank has reportedly been robbed in the city.

New Bedford Police confirm to WBSM News that the Santander Bank branch at 585 Allen Street was robbed shortly after 2 p.m. Monday. They say units are on the scene, but are not releasing any further details at this time.

According to scanner reports, witnesses reported two males, one in a gray hooded sweatshirt and one in a black sweatshirt, robbed the bank, showing a shotgun and and a handgun during the course of the robbery. Both were also masked.

The two men then exited the bank and headed in the direction of the Winslow School, before getting into a white minivan seen driving toward downtown. The van was then seen getting on to Route 140, and police were in pursuit. It is described as an older model white minivan with tinted windows in the back and no tinted windows in front.

It's the third time a Santander bank branch in the city has been robbed since December 22. On that day, the branch at 1238 Kempton Street was robbed, after it had previously been hit back in August. Then on December 27, the branch at 1230 Braley Road was robbed.

It's the fifth robbery of a Santander bank in New Bedford since the summer, as the branch at 909 Ashley Boulevard was robbed back in September.

We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
