If you are in the mood to switch up your routine this weekend, grab your loved ones for the opening night of a brand-new experience at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. They will be hosting a one-of-a-kind event that will offer a socially distant experience, filled with dazzling light displays within the 72 acres of the zoo.

Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience is new to New England and a first of its kind at Franklin Park. Zoo New England released a preview of the attraction, and the sights are stunning. These aren’t the typical lanterns you may find down a boardwalk.

Walk amongst glowing butterflies that change colors. Stare up at the flying Chinese dragon with its fiery red lights. Get up close and personal with the vibrant alligators, or even walk throughout the mouth of a gigantic, glowing shark.

The lantern experience completely transforms the zoo, offering 50 different displays all inspired by nature and shining proudly with energy-saving LED lights.

“We are thrilled to bring this unique experience to Franklin Park Zoo inspired by the beauty of the natural world, incredible wildlife and rich cultural traditions," said Zoo New England President John Linehan. "We look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages as they immerse themselves in the beauty of the lights.”

This illuminating event has a very important message behind it. According to Travel and Leisure, Boston Lights was created to highlight the importance of conserving biodiversity. The experience offers education and information about conservation and habitat preservation.

Enjoy Boston Lights now until September 7. Tickets must be purchased online.
