It’s the end of an era for peach lovers across the SouthCoast, especially in Acushnet.

Ashley’s Peach Farm on Main Street has officially retired after 38 years in business. Known for some of the best peaches in Massachusetts, the farm was a local staple and a must-stop for generations of fruit lovers.

In a town that celebrates its agricultural roots with the annual Apple Peach Festival, the loss hits especially hard. Ashley’s was more than just a farm; it was a summertime ritual.

Acushnet Residents Reflect on Sweet Memories

Ronny Lecuyer from Acushnet expressed his thoughts on Facebook.

“By far the absolute best peaches I’ve ever had in my entire life came from their trees. If you had the pleasure of trying her incredible crop, consider yourself lucky. Her peaches were a special breed. It was a multigenerational crop,” Lecuyer wrote.

With 38 years under its belt, Ashley’s Peach Farm was almost as longstanding as the Apple Peach Festival itself, which celebrates its 44th year this September.

“After 38 seasons, we have decided to retire. Thank you all for the many memories and good luck to all of our customers.”

According to AllTheFarms.com, the farm was run by fifth-generation growers and offered over 30 peach varieties picked fresh daily for sale at the stand.

What’s Next for the Apple Peach Festival?

While Ashley’s Peach Farm won’t be participating, the Acushnet Apple Peach Festival is still on. This year’s event is scheduled for the weekend of September 6 and 7. Expect plenty of celebration, but perhaps a little less sweetness in the air.
