A Paddleboard Trip That Will Bring out Your Inner Witch
You've got to be an experienced paddleboarder to get in on this Halloween outing.
This is right up my alley, except for the fact that I am definitely not an experienced paddleboarder. It looks like so much fun and I can totally see my girlfriends and I laughing our butts off dressed like witches paddling through the bay. No doubt we would spend more time falling off and into the water than actually on the board, but that's my point, it's all about the fun. Oh, and this event is absolutely free!
On The Kayak Centre of R.I. Facebook page, they say, "Calling all witches, goblins and ghouls! Come join us for a fun paddle in Wickford Harbor, with a Halloween parade after!"
The event is Sunday, October 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and kicks off at the waterfront location at 10 Phillips Street and paddles through the harbor. There are two options for this tour: you can land at Gardner's Wharf and walk with the Kayak Centre float in the Halloween parade, or you can paddle back to the launch. The annual parade begins at noon. You will be able to pull up on the beach and put our boards and boats on a waiting trailer and join the festivities.
The event coordinators also note that due to the time of year, this outing is only open to experienced paddlers with their own equipment. They recommend neoprene layers and booties at a minimum. There is no cost for this tour; however, attendees will need to sign a waiver to launch from the waterfront location.
