5 Burritos You Have To Try From The Southcoast
When it comes to Mexican Cuisine, it's safe to say that the "Burrito" is one delicious dish.
I will admit that the Southcoast is home to some of the most delicious burritos that I have ever encountered! From Fall River to Wareham, there's a handful of Mexican Restaurants that offer their own twist on the burrito, each one bursting with flavor within each bite that you take.
Below is a list of the most creative and delicious burritos that are a must try if you're in the mood for a spicy or savory meal. The only advice that I have to give is to come hungry, because these bad boys are large and in charge!
"The Cancun Burrito"
One of the local favorites, "The Cancun Burrito" starts with your choice of pork, chicken, ground beef or shredded beef. Once you've decided your choice of meat, Casa Cancun then tops it off with rice and beans in a large flour tortilla and then smothers it with zesty enchilada sauce, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream!
"The Burrito Fiesta"
With three locations around Massachusetts, this burrito can be found close to home in Dartmouth. From the instant you walk into Fiesta, you're welcomed by an authentic flair of Mexicana. Their signature burrito, "The Burrito Fiesta," is loaded with your choice of shredded chicken, beef or pork and layered with savory rice and refried beans in a flour tortilla. The chefs at Fiesta then Top it off with cheese and enchilada style sauce, pico de gallo, onions, sour cream and lettuce!
"Carne Asada Burrito"
Located right off the Fairhaven exit from Route 195, The Frontera Grill Mexican Restaurant is home to the smothered burritos. These aren't your ordinary burritos, you're going to need a fork and knife for these bad boys. Allow me to introduce their most famous/delicious of the bunch: "The Carne Asada Burrito"! A giant portion of juicy grilled steak skirts wrapped up tight in a flour tortilla with whole beans, rice and roasted green onions. Frontera then tops off the giant burrito (that takes up the entire plate by the way) with ranchero sauce, freshly made Guacamole and cottage cheese. Oh yeah... Don't forget the napkins!
"The Incredible Hulk"
A personal favorite goes out to the small and quaint Tequila Lime Cantina in Fall River, MA. Don't let their size fool you though, their menu packs a huge punch of flavors and delicious choices; one of them being the enormous "Incredible Hulk" Burrito! This beast is PACKED with protein and for those who like to add hot sauce to their burritos, let me assure you that the flavor is simply enough, none needed to apply. Tequila Lime Cantina provides this healthy alternative to a signature Burrito by starting with juicy marinated steak AND chicken, egg whites and avocado, then adds in the roasted peppers and onions, black beans, lettuce, Monterey Jack cheese and zesty salsa. Complimented with their golden fire roasted house made tortilla chips, you better come hungry for this one!
"Spicy Diablo Beef Burrito"
The spiciest Granddaddy of them all goes to No Problemo Taqueria in beautiful Downtown, New Bedford. These guys make everything fresh right in front of you and if you enjoy the spicy foods in life, then the "Spicy Diablo Beef Burrito" is definitely for you. Not too hot, not too mild, just right! They start layering the burrito with Rice, refried beans, cheese, salsa, sour cream, fresh jalapenos & chipotle hot sauce then add the juiciest pieces of beef that simply melts in your mouth. Give it a try... if you dare!
