Well it wouldn't be a St. Patrick's Day parade if people weren't getting arrested now, would it?

Boston Globe: Public drinking citations at South Boston’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade were up dramatically this year, with hundreds more people ticketed for imbibing amid the revelry, according to Boston police. Meanwhile, arrests at the event dropped by more than half.

Police tallied 498 total civil violations for drinking in public at Sunday’s parade, along with four arrests. Last year, authorities reported 278 citations — most of them for public drinking — and 10 arrests.

The big parade went down Sunday, and even though it wasn't on St. Paddy's Day, it still was just as crazy! The parade, which runs through Southie, saw 5 people arrested and almost 500 people cited. The 5 arrested were cuffed for disorderly conduct among other offenses, but the best part was the fact that 500 people were cited for public drinking... Can you imagine the officers? It must have been like being Oprah for a day... You get a citation, you get a citation, EVERYBODY GETS A CITATION!!! The crazy part is that the 498 people cited were double the amount from last year's parade. Out of all this, one thing is for sure... A lot of people called out of work on Monday!
