100-Year-Old Westport Woman’s Priceless Reaction to Birthday Pie
Imagine being this happy over pie?
Stasia Dziewit of Westport turned 100-years-old on Wednesday, March 9, and her one request was a Boston Cream Pie.
Dziewit lived in Acushnet for over 50 years before recently moving to Westport to live with her daughter, Joanne Teixeira. She's still going strong at 100 but requires a little help here and there from her family.
Last week I received a call from one of Dziewit's grandsons, Sam Teixeira, asking if I knew where to get a good Boston Cream Pie.
"Hold my beer," I told him and picked up the homemade pie from Grandma's Donuts around noon.
I began making my way over to Westport where, little did I know, I'd be delivering more than just a pie. I also got to deliver a memory that the family will never forget. As Dziewit opened the pie box, she was shocked to see her favorite dessert. After all, what do you get someone who turns 100 these days?
The answer is and always should be pie.
Needless to say, judging by the photos above, she was very happy. Her smile alone is priceless and exactly what anyone needs to brighten up a dark day.
You know, we could all learn something valuable here. Sometimes in life, it's the little things, such as pie, that can truly make a difference.
So to Mrs. Dziewit, I hope you enjoyed your Boston Cream and that you had a wonderful day with your family. One-hundred years is a blessing in disguise. And it's absolute goals for longevity.
Happy birthday to you, and here's to many more!
