Why Everyone Should Place a Teal Pumpkin Outside Their House
Want to know what it means when you see a house with a teal pumpkin? Here's the details!
Most of us enjoy Halloween for the candy hunting. When else can you shake down your neighbors for those mini chocolate bars? However, there are some kids who are afraid of trick-or-treating, and not just because of the scary decorations and costumes. For a child with food allergies, trick-or-treating can be like walking on egg shells. They need to make sure that what goes in their bags is safe, and won't trigger an allergic reaction.
Well one idea may help those kids feel at ease this year. The Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) has a new campaign called the Teal Pumpkin Project. Those who participate can hand out non-edible treats like glow-sticks and spider rings. By painting a pumpkin teal and placing it outside your door, you are letting kids and parents know that your house is a safe house for food allergies!
This is just one more way to stay safe this Halloween! Have fun, be smart, and don't eat anything until you get home. Make sure mom or dad have a look at everything to let you know what's ok to eat.
