February 4, 2014, marks a legendary day in my culinary adventures – the day my buddy Buck and I embarked on a gastronomic journey that we've never forgotten.

It all went down at Hooters in Warwick, Rhode Island. This was not your average casual dining experience. This was an epic feast of wings, sauces and camaraderie that left us with zero regrets.

The plan was simple yet bold: We were going to conquer 100 wings. Not just any wings, mind you, but a variety of sauces, dry rubs and heat levels that would make even the most seasoned wing connoisseur weak in the knees. Armed with our abnormal appetites and a weird dose of enthusiasm, we dove headfirst into the menu, ready to take on a challenge of our own making.

First, Buck and I sifted through the extensive list of wing flavors, from classic Buffalo to zesty garlic parmesan. The choices seemed endless. We mixed it up, selecting an eclectic array of sauces and rubs that ranged from sweet and tangy to downright spicy. Of course, no wing feast would be complete without ranch, blue cheese and a couple of baskets of curly fries to wash it all down.

As the wings arrived at our table, our eyes widened. We wasted no time diving in.

We realized quickly that we had underestimated the sheer magnitude of our challenge. Rather than feel defeated, we pushed onward through the absurdity.

What felt like hours passed in a blur of laughter, sauce-stained fingers and over-stuffed bellies. By the time we polished off the last wing, we were exhausted but victorious. Our faces were smeared with sauce, our fingers sticky with grease, but in that moment, none of it mattered. We had achieved the unthinkable. We had conquered 100 wings at Hooters, and we had zero regrets.

The SouthCoast Hot Wing Project

WBSM's Tim Weisberg and his son Adam spent six months touring the SouthCoast area from New Bedford to Fall River to Dartmouth to Norton and beyond, trying some of the supposed hottest wings around – and also gave some other unique wing flavors a shot, too.
