A petition was developed online in support to remove the seagull statue with boobs in downtown New Bedford called 'Seagull Cinderella'.

The Care2 Petition was created by Raymond C. with the reasoning as follows:

The statue of "Seagull Cindarella" by Donna Dodson of Boston is ridiculous and makes our city look like a joke. With New Bedford's rich history, we do not want visitors' lasting impressions to be of a seagull with boobs. What a waste. It needs to go. Remove it, or replace it with something beautiful.

The 'seagull' that this man is petitioning against is actually a sculpture by the artist Donna Dodson and the sculpture participated in the 2014 Biennial Sculpture Invitational at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph Michigan. The piece is Celebrating a Common sea bird as the American mythic princess, Cinderella. The piece is located at the intersection of Route 18 and Elm Street.

The argument goes both ways but we cannot deny that art is a part of the culture in New Bedford and even though some people may not like the sculpture it is definitely a piece of art.
