Love wine and food? Do you love animals? Have a passion to help others?

A wine and food tasting will take place in Providence, R.I. to benefit the Providence Animal Shelter's  homeless "pets,"  this event will be held Oct. 16 to benefit homeless animals.

Open to the public, this event will be hosted by Historic Roger Williams Park Casino from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for $25, and proceeds will benefit the Providence Animal Shelter through Friends of PACCS an all volunteer, non-profit organization.

Mario Hilario will present the Mario Hilario Compassion Award. This award is distributed to recognize the tireless efforts in promoting animal compassion. This year the award will be presented to the Torque Ryders. There will be a special guest visit from one recipient of the award, Lucy, a pet therapy pit bull stray who had been rescued from the streets of Woonsocket, R.I., and now volunteers with therapeutic services to patients of Beacon Hospice.
