The owners of Ma's Donuts will be retiring, but hopefully the legacy will live on.

The owners of Ma's Donuts, Ed and Sheila met at Ma’s Donut Shop as teenagers, bought the shop and they have now been running the store together for 50 years.

According to Southcoast Today, Ed and Sheila are now in their 60s and they are ready retire soon, possibly in June, so they can enjoy a life that has been consumed by donuts for the past 50 years.

Clearly running Ma's Donut Shop is a lot of work. Ed bakes doughnuts for the early-morning customers starting at the night before and makes 400 to 450 dozen a day, but they still sell out most days.

Sheila is hopeful about the future of the business and says they have people interested in taking over the business, which already has so many clients.

Whatever the future holds for Ma's Donuts, Sheila and Ed will always love Ma's Donuts.

“We put a billion smiles on the faces of a billion people with a billion doughnuts,’’
