Firefighters Battle Three-Alarm Blaze in Wareham
WAREHAM — Everyone is safe following a serious fire in Wareham this morning.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Wareham Fire Department received 911 calls of a fire at 91 Great Neck Road. Fire Chief Patrick Haskell tells WBSM News the three-alarm blaze required assistance from nearby departments in Onset, Marion, Carver, Bourne and Plymouth.
"The first arriving companies encountered a heavy volume of fire coming from the front of the building," Chief Haskell said, noting the single-family home was left "heavily damaged" by the fire.
The chief says nobody was home at the time of the fire, and all pets are safe.
The fire was mostly extinguished by noon, but Chief Haskell says crews remain on scene to investigate and put down any hot spots that may flare up.
No injuries were reported by crews battling the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation. Chief Haskell said the investigation is being handled by the Wareham Fire Department, Wareham Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
