Fall River’s newest restaurant offers Portuguese and Italian food with a little bit of a twist. It is all served in a European bistro type setting with white linen tablecloths and casual dining on the patio.

The restaurant is located across from the Fall River Government Center at 19 Jeremiah V. Sullivan Drive.

What makes the CAV so unique is that caviar, champagne, chicken wings, and beer are all found on the same menu. That's my kind of restaurant!

According to The Herald News, the menu offers dishes such as the restaurant’s signature dish, The CAV (braised scallops topped with caviar and a creamy bacon sauce) and others options such as the Surf and Turf Burger (a burger topped with sauteed shrimp covered with a cheesy sauce).

Vanessa Gifford, the daughter of owner Carlos A. Vieira, said that the restaurant’s goal is to have good and fresh food with a European bistro setting and outside seating.

Vieira, a resident of Taunton, and head of the family business, grew up in a family restaurant in Portugal, and always dreamed of owning his own restaurant.

Vieira moved here 33 years ago and for over 20 years, he was the general manager at the Papa Gino’s on Elsbree Street.

The restaurant opened a little bit over a week ago, and Vieira said one of his favorite dishes is one that is named for him: The Carlos (salmon, scallops and shrimp braised in a lemon-wine broth).

Chef Richard Brian Hayward Jr, a graduate of the Johnson and Wales Culinary Arts Program, adds his own spin on most of the dishes on the menu, such as cheesy sauce that’s poured over the Surf and Turf burger and the creamy bacon sauce in The CAV special.

The menu offers a couple of types of sandwiches, such as tuna, turkey, vegetarian, and hamburger. In other words, a little bit of everything for everybody.

Also, CAV has a full bar with a selection of beers and wine. I'll cheers to that!
