Peter Brady loves his bar pizza.

A year after his last appearance, actor Christopher Knight is scheduled to visit Cape Cod Cafe for more of the good stuff on Friday, May 10, 2024. This will be more than a stop to get a quick and delicious bite. Knight is expected to tell stories about his days on The Brady Bunch and promote a foundation close to his heart.

The Brockton restaurant, which touts itself as home to "the original bar pizza," is promoting Knight's visit as a "meet and greet." Knight will be in the house from 12:30 to 2 p.m. A portion of the sales will go to The TrueLove Foundation.

The foundation raises money for and awareness of Williams syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting many parts of the body, including the face, heart and blood vessels. In 2023, Knight stopped by the cafe en route to a nearby fundraiser. Now, he's tying a couple of passions -- pizza and the foundation -- together.

Knight, 66, played Peter Brady on The Brady Bunch for five seasons from 1969 to 1974, growing up in front of millions of fans.

During his last visit to Cape Cod Cafe, Knight tried a couple of pies: one with pepperoni and cheese and the other with linguica, onions and peppers.

Those are safe, tasty bets. "Pork chops and apple sauce" may be one of Peter Brady's most famous lines but probably wouldn't work too well on a pizza.

Cape Cod Cafe, which opened in 1939, is at 979 Main St. in Brockton.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
