The New Bedford Half Marathon is less than eight weeks away. If you’re a novice, training should have started anywhere from 12 weeks to 6 months before the big race.
If you can get through a 5 mile jog or run without dying, you might still have time to get there. The goal is to build up your aerobic fitness. So training should consist primarily of not just running or jogging, but also biking, swimming, and the eliptical trainer! Shape Magazine’s web site has a great 12 week training program. If you’re already running or jogging three times weekly, you can jump in right around week five’s schedule in time for that 13.1 mile through Neu Beige. This year’s run will take place on March 16th, 2014.
The run is challenging, but if it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, there’s still time to train and sign up. The feeling once you’ve finished it is unbelievable. I’ve done it three times, never with the intention of winning, but just crossing that finish line.
