Scary Armed Robbery In Downtown NB

Early Monday morning around 1:30am a female employee at Cork Wine and Tapas Bar in downtown New Bedford was closing up from a busy Sunday night.  She was in the office tallying up the revenue from the evening when a masked man dressed in black holding a gun jumped out of the closet in this very office.

I can't imagine what was going through her mind, she must have been so scared!

Co-owner of Cork, Jason Lanagan says the thief got away with about $1,000 in cash.  He also said that in the 11 years they've been in business, this has never happened.  "Our employees do a wonderful job, we are moving forward with business as usual," he said.

Police say they believe the robber was familiar with the layout of the building and feel it was an isolated incident.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact New Bedford Police at 508-961-4584.
