The free night out kicks-off at 4:30 and runs 'til 9 p.m.  The fireworks display will happen at 8:30 at Custom House Square.  Other activities planned include a hat-making contest at Artworks, a community service at the Seamen's Bethel, a puppet show and face-painting at the YMCA, storytelling at the Downtown Branch of the Public Library and a magic show at Bristol Community College.

There will also be fire-eaters and juggles wandering around downtown and an aerial act performance at Nativity Prep School.  For music lovers, there'll be jazz performances at the New Bedford Whaling Museum Theater and New Bedford Museum of Art, Celtic music at the Celtic Coffee House, classical and jazz at the Star Store, folk music at Cafe Arpeggio, and other bands at Wings Court.  The Whaling Museam will also host a family-friendly "Swinging Eve" from 7 til 10.  There is a charge for this event.
