Since 2019, the mini-golf course beside the former Carousel skating rink in Fairhaven has slowly been decaying and becoming covered in overgrowth. Thankfully, there's new life on the way.

Every time I passed the nostalgic Cap's Barnacles (2 David Drown Boulevard), it would sadden me to see family fun go to waste. The course opened in 1999 and it's about to see a resurgence in 2023, all thanks to a new pickleball business.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Southcoast Pickleball, which last year took over the facility next door, dropped a bombshell of an announcement this week:

"What's better than Pickleball? Well in our opinion, not much. For those that have yet to discover all the wonderful things pickleball has to offer we are excited to share the news of our Miniature Golf Course that will be opening in the coming weeks!! This hidden gem was home to many tournaments in its previous life and promises to provide fun for all! Refreshments including water, soda, sports drinks and of course Ice Cream novelties will also be available! More info will be coming soon with our exact opening date and schedule."

Owner Adam Rogers had no plans back in May 2022, but after being opened for a little over a year, he can now focus on a great family attraction just in time for summer.

The million-dollar question: "What will it be called?"

We'll find out soon enough Stay tuned.
