A photo of a New Bedford woman taken on the other side of the planet is making the rounds on Facebook.

Julissa Maldonado of New Bedford is serving with the U.S. Army in Kuwait but when she's home, one of her favorite places is Rose Alley Ale House. If you've ever been to the downtown bar and restaurant, chances are you've seen her.

If there's one thing she misses most, it's karaoke every Sunday with DJ Adam Estrella.

Maldonado took to Facebook this week and posted a photo of herself standing on a military aircraft with the hatch wide open. In the photo, she's holding a sign with a very important message:

I'D RATHER BE SINGING KARAOKE AT ROSE ALLEY

She wanted to send a message back home to her comrades from Rose Alley with the caption, "I'll be back to my mic soon enough."

"I'd rather be singing karaoke at Rose Alley"

I've had the honor of meeting Maldonado here and there on the weekends and will tell you firsthand that she's always smiling and surrounded by good people. From karaoke to the annual beer summit, Maldonado has been a loyal customer for years.

While there may not be any karaoke for her in Kuwait, there will always be a microphone waiting for her when she returns.

Thank you for your service, Julissa. I'll have a cold beer waiting for you when you get back. My treat.
