Since the passing of Jimmy Buffett on September 1, 2023, Parrotheads everywhere have experienced a profound sense of loss. Count me among them.

It's odd. I've seen many of my favorite celebrities pass away over the years and have never felt the same sense of grief as I do with Jimmy's death. I have wrestled with these feelings and found that I am not alone. Up and down Parrothead Nation, Buffett fans are struggling to understand the impact this passing has had on them.

While complicated, it is also quite simple.

Jimmy Buffett created entertainment that many enjoy – music, books, art, etc. – but he also represented a lifestyle that, to some, is escapism. For others, it is the freedom to chill, relax, be yourself and enjoy life a little.

When life is good and when it gets tough, kick off the shoes, enjoy an ocean breeze, the sunset, perhaps a cool drink, and dial it back a few notches. Sing songs. Be silly. Have fun.

While searching for others locally who might be feeling as I do, I found the website of the Nautical Whalers Parrot Head Club of Southern Massachusetts (NWPHC).

The site says, "NWPHC is a club, incorporated in the state of Massachusetts, whose mission is to join together people of similar interests who enjoy Jimmy Buffett's music and philosophy." Party With a Purpose!

According to the website, "The organization engages in activities that are charitable, educational, and that promote the general welfare of the community."

NWPHC says, "In addition to raising money for charity and performing community volunteer work, the club participates in a variety of diverse social activities that promote the club's motto to: Party With a Purpose!

Nautical Whalers Parrot Head Club of Southern Massachusetts meets the first Tuesday of each month. There is a small fee to become a member.

Have fun and fins up!

See Inside Jimmy Buffett's Staggering $6.9 Million Palm Beach Mansion

Jimmy Buffett sure knew how to live the good life. His former 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom, 4,039-square-foot mansion in the exclusive Eden Properties neighborhood in Palm Beach is exactly the kind of laid-back home you'd expect the superstar to relax in when he was off the road.

The interior centers around a combined dining and living room with eye-popping vaulted ceilings topped off by skylights, while a massive wall of mahogany-framed sliding glass doors looks out over the pool area outside. The kitchen is decorated in gleaming white, and each of the bedrooms has its own attached bathroom, while the massive master suite also has sliding glass doors that open to both the pool and a bathroom that looks like it belongs in a high-end resort.

The exterior of the house is just as striking, centered around a sparkling pool of deep cobalt blue. The pool area features plenty of lounging, and a loggia just outside the living room offers open-air dining. There are lush gardens, brick paths that walk through elaborate pergolas and a fountain. The property also features a two-car garage with a guest suite overhead, and it offers deeded access to the beach nearby.
