It will not be located within the city limits, but if is approved this week, New Bedford will begin planning for the construction of the city's largest solar farm.

It will be in Rochester,  where the city owns nearly 30 acres of land.   The solar farm will generate  electricity to power the entire water department.    The town of Rochester is expected to approve the solar farm on Tuesday.

When built, the farm will be set off North Avenue behind a massive mound with plantings designed to hide the 14,000 panels from view.
