NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — The victim involved in a fatal New Bedford car crash last week has now been identified.

Joshua Ferreira, 44, of South Dartmouth was killed in the single-vehicle crash that occurred on Route 140.

Massachusetts State Police troopers responded at 4:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, to Route 140 North at Braley Road for a single-crash vehicle.

Upon investigation, authorities said a Ford F-150 pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed near the off-ramp to Braley Road at Exit 7 when the driver allegedly struck the guard rail and went airborne.

Ferreira, who reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck and later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
