Eating by the water is a staple on the Southcoast and this week another waterfront restaurant option is opening.

An excited post on Facebook this morning from the owners of The Cove Restaurant on Davol St in Fall River announced that they will officially be opening their doors to the public Thursday night. (That's tomorrow!)

As the Herald News reported, the new restaurant on the site of former Regatta has had a few set backs along the way, including a fire in the building in April 2013 and this most recent brutal winter.

But after about 18 months of construction, the building that sits on pilings overlooking the Mount Hope Bay and the Battleship Massachusetts is ready for diners! They feature a main restaurant that seats 200, a large outdoor deck to accommodate another 100 diners as well as a banquet room that seats 180 and a 400-foot dock for transient boaters to tie up while having dinner.

The Cove's opening tomorrow night will be reservation only, which you can make by calling 508-672-4540 (they suggest later in the day). By the weekend reservations will still be strongly suggested, but not a necessity to try them out.

Of course with a name like The Cove you can expect seafood to be on the menu,  as well as steaks and other American fare.
