Netflix series Stranger Things remains a cultural phenomenon several years into its run, but did you know that Joe Keery, the actor who plays Steve Harrington, is from Massachusetts?

His full name is Joseph David Keery and he is from Newburyport on the North Shore. He graduated from Newburyport High School in 2009 and then moved to Chicago for college.

Keery, 31, began acting in high school theater and with local arts camps.vHe was determined to break into the business but didn't land the sexiest of roles. He was cast in commercials for KFC and Domino's to start and then landed some small parts in the series Chicago Fire and Empire.

Keery got his big chance at stardom original as a reoccurring cast member on Stranger Things in 2015. Eventually, his character became a regular on the show.

Don't get it twisted, though. Keery is multi-talented and has been working as a musician on the side the entire time.

That brings us to today. Keery now has a song on Fun 107 and is climbing the music charts with an eclectic sound that no one is giving the music world right now. He released the song a year ago, but it's just now getting lots of attention.

Keery is using an alias to present his music. He goes by "DJO" and the hit song you are hearing on the radio is called "End of Beginning"

How do you say the alias? it's simple. It's pronounced "Joe."

If you ask me, the song sounds like it belongs on the Stranger Things soundtrack. The show will soon enter its fifth and final season.

Here is the song in case you haven't heard it yet.

It's exciting to share another amazing talent who reigns from our amazing state.
