What Is Lumina in Providence?

Inspired by iconic cities such as NYC and Montreal, Lumina brings light, art, and community spirit to Rhode Island.

From 195 District Park to Bank Newport City Center via Dorrance Street, Lumina finds its home.

At the center of it all, Prismatica, a contemporary ice palace, will turn Downtown Providence into a shining spectacle, featuring 25 towering prisms by Quartier des Spectacles International.

“Standing tall at 6 feet, each prism radiates a vivid array of colors, creating a mesmerizing spectacle for all,” GoProvidence said.

What to Expect at Lumina in Providence

The opening VIP party will take place on Jan.19, hosted by Downtown Providence Park Network (DPPN) and ALOFT Hotel. The weekends to follow will bring exciting activities, including a light-up parade, food trucks, local beers, family-friendly programs and a sauna on wheels.

Yes, a sauna on wheels.

Hot chocolate, scavenger hunts, drink specials, performances and more will accompany the stunning art display, all made possibly by Commerce RI, led by DPPN with collaborations with the Providence Parks Department, 195 District Park, The Downtown Improvement District, Providence Tourism Council, The Avenue Concept and the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Details about Lumina are available through DPPN.

Get excited. An illuminated experience is coming.
