With the disturbing number of school shootings across the country, one local town is taking the safety of its students very seriously with plans to become the safest schools in the state.

In Dartmouth the school security systems are getting a serious upgrade. The town is upgrading security measures in all seven of its buildings, including swipe-card security and double-door "man-trap" entrances that would lock an intruder or would-be gunman in the entry way and prevent them from entering the building.

They also will become the first town in the state to use the "Mutualink" telecom system that uses phones and cameras.

All of these safety measures are expected to be completed over the next few weeks with new safety protocols being put in place as well.

So parents, do these security upgrades make you feel better about your child's safety when they're at school? Do you hope more towns follow suit?
