BOURNE — A Lakeville man is dead after drowning at a Bourne beach.

Emergency responders were called to the Pocasset Heights Conservation Area in Bourne shortly before 5:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a swimmer in distress.

The victim was pulled from the water by the time they arrived, and CPR was administered.

Bourne Fire Department officials say the man went into cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead at Falmouth Hospital.

The victim has been identified as John Lima, 50, of Lakeville.

The drowning is under investigation by Bourne Police and the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office.
